MUDDIE POINT

hey its kelly

so my muddiest point from the unit was knowing the difference between the rough & smooth ER & what their functions are

  1. The difference between the two is that in the rough ER, ribosomes are found on its surface. In the smooth ER, these ribosomes are not found on the surface.

  2. The function of rough ER is to package proteins to be used in the cell or sent out to others. The function of smooth ER is different depending on the type of cell but it is usually involved in the metabolic processes of the cell. The rough ER looks like sheets of bumpy membranes and smooth ER looks more like several tube-like structures.
