no comprende. Ayuda por favor?

Hey guys! TessaN heree. So I pretty much understand everything, but I missed the day when we did lab 38 about evidence of evolution. So I just want to clarify what is the difference between homologous and analogous structures?

  1. hey,

Analogous structure: means when two different organisms that are living in the same environmental have appendages that perform the same function. For example, a bird and a butterfly, both fly but they fly with different appendages.

homologous structures: its when a similar organism adapts to a different environmental. Kind of the opposite of analogous structure.

  2. ok so im pretty sure this is right...

analogous is when they have similar structures that have the same function but arent quite the same organisms

homologous is when they are similar in structure that is almost identicle, but the functions are almost totally different.

    for expample:
*analogous* a birds wing and a moths wing, or an ants ants leg and a cats leg. same idea but are almost completely different organisms...
*homologous* a human arm and a bats wing, or a whales fin and a frogs arm. the bones are all lined up almost exactly the same but are carried out with almost complete different functions.
