  1. The hypothalamus is like a big boss in charge. It secretes hormones to tell the pituitary gland what to do, what hormones to make more/less of, etc. The pituitary gland isn't just for growth...it does a lot of things. For example it makes and secretes FSH and LH (hormones in the menstrual cycle).

Basically its like a chain of command...the hypothalamus sends out like a big 'broadcast' to the pituitary gland to secrete certain hormones. These hormones give messages to other glands, like the ovaries, to make even more hormones.

    hope this helped..

  2. One big difference of estrogen and progesterone is progesterone is generated in males and females. Estrogen is only generated in females. Progesterone has a calming effect on women while estrogen has the opposite effect. Progesterone prepares the lining of a uterus so that it is a good place for an egg. Also, progesterone increases body temperature and causes water retention. Estrogen regulates the menstrual cycle and keeps your bones, blood vessels, heart and hair healthy.
