Genetic Disorder: Cri du chat

Hello, it's time for Disorder diseasification with Riaz! Today's messed up disorder: Cri du chat syndrome. French for "cry of the cat", Cri du chat syndrome is a disorder where an infant's cry is the sound of a meowing cat. Mostly caused by an abnormal larynx, it is mostly a factor of a broken or deletion of a chromosome when the embryo is in development. It is mostly not genetically inherited, because the break of a chromosome is autosomal. It appears 1 in every 50,000, life expectancy is also normal. Symptoms are as followed: low set ears, low birthweight, small jaw, small head, bad language skills, and mental retardation. It is hard to diagnose this disorder, because after age 2, the cry disappears. One could test for this while the baby is in the womb, or the child can qualify for language improvement classes. This is a picture of a person with cri du chat syndrome. Take a look, if you dare!

Sorry ofr the late scribe post. On Monday, we mostly talked about meiosis. Meiosis the making of egg and sperm, and involves many steps, divided in two phases, meiosis 1 and meiosis 2. It mostly occurs in a mitosis like form like this picture:
Most of the stage's names are mostly similar to the mitosis stage names, so try not to get confused!

So far, my muddiest point in the unit has been on the differences and similarities between primary and secondary succession. Help out, por favor!

Hola, Que Tal, Namaste, Bonjour, what ever gets the message across, I'm Riaz.

For the first 15 minutes or so, we had a reading check on 4.2. Then, we talked about Community Interactions. We talked about mostly the concept of Symbiosis. Symbiosis is a relationship between 2 organisms. There are 3 relationships of symbiosis; Commensialism (picture on the left), where one species benefits and the other is not harmed or helped (e/g barnacle on whale), Parasitism, where one species lives in another and harms it (E/G parasites) and Mutualism, where both species benefit from relationship (e/g fish hiding and protecting anemone).
We also talked about niches. According to The notes of Riaz Gillani, niches are the range of physical and biologic factors in which an organism lives and it gets what it needs to survive. The niche explains the role of the organism in the society.
Speaking of roles, we once again met with our presentation group today, while examining our duckweed

Que Paso, mundo! It's Riaz here, posting up my blog primero. One thing you might not know about me, is that I'm compelled with the history of the NBA. From the 1950's till now, I'm pretty sure I know everything there is to know about that time period. I would post a video, but I dont want yall to fall asleep. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the hands on experiments, but I hope I don't fall asleep in the lessons. Let's hope not!
