Hello class! Trenton here!
At the beggining of class we took a quiz on ecology. The quiz was comprised of information about Niches, food webs, community's, climatographs and food chains. Some other things were on predators and trophic levels. You better have studied!
Then we got into groups of 3 and questioned each other on our homework assignment, which was to make 6 different types of questions based off of 5.1 and 5.2. My group was: Jarod, Mikey, Eunice and I.
At the end of class we learned about Exponential growth (graph).
We also learned about Logistic growth (graph).
Afterwards we discussed the Limits to growth; Limiting factor-anything that causes a population to decrease. Density Dependent limiting factor-a factor that affects larger/denser populations more. Example: Food availability, disease, competition (space, food, mates), predation and parasitism.
Last but not least......density: independent factors affecting the population. Such as hurricanes, fire, extreme temperature.
