muddiest point

the thing that i struggled most on in this chapter is the trophic levels and how to read the charts. it was very hard to get the fact that one organism can be on two levels at the same time. it just did not make sense. that is my muddiest point

  1. A tropic level technically means "feeding level". In other words, it is just a step in a food chain.

    For Example, in the following food chain:

    Algae --> zooplankton --> herring --> trout

    There are 4 trophic levels.

    Algae is the first trophic level, zooplankton is the second, and so on.

    Hope that helps.
